"Suffragette" (Gavron, 2015)
From watching the "Suffragette" trailer, the obvious target audience is women, as the women's right to vote and what women went through to achieve this right is highlighted, through, the early feminist movement. Although, another target audience could be the younger generation as well as the minority who are still fighting for equality today, and are faced with this constant battle.
Conventions:
The trailer, shows snippets of the film and reveals that the film stars, actresses such as Meryl Streep, and Helena Bonham Carter who are two of the most well discovered and successful actresses! The fact that they starred in the trailer will mean that more people will want to go and see the film, because of the big Hollywood names involved. The short clips of the film also allows the audience to have some knowledge of what the film is about, in the hope that it might entice them and provoke a curiosity in them to go and see the film.
Also, the soundtrack, played a big part in the trailer. The soundtrack could be seen to "pull on the heart strings" of the audience as the song chosen has a slow tempo and could help the audience to relate to the trailer emotionally. The soundtrack also provides contrast to the highly dramatic scenes showed in the trailer, making more of an impact on the audience.

SUFFRAGETTE PREMIERE:
The suffragette premiere was significant, as over one hundred feminist protestors jumped the barriers onto the red carpet. The protestors were from Sisters Uncut, who campaign against domestic violence and explained that they wanted to bring attention to the cuts to domestic violence services.
